We are currently looking for an INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST (IH)


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

* Conduct inspections of school facilities to validate environmental control plans, identify problem areas, and ensure acceptable indoor air quality.

* Prepare reports, including observations, collecting data, and making recommendations for program performance improvement.

* Collaborate with district administrators, facility managers, safety officers, and risk management staff to assist in identifying and abating environmental hazards.

* Conduct environmental monitoring in school settings to recognize, eliminate, and control environmental hazards and diseases.

* Collect samples of asbestos, mold, lead, water, and air for analysis as needed.

* Work with local laboratory to facilitate timely results on sampling.

* Able to analyze lab results-mold, asbestos, bacterial cultures, and lead.

* Assist contractors in identifying and developing an approved scope of work per job.

* Make recommendations on improving the safety of workers and the surrounding areas.

* Develop techniques to anticipate and control potentially dangerous situations in the workplace.

* Ensure workers are properly following health and safety procedures.

Skills / Requirements

Applicants should possess the following qualifications:

* minimum of four years experience as an Industrial Hygienist;

* bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in environmental science, microbiology, safety, and/or industrial hygiene (preferred);

* familiar with OSHA, EPA, AHERA, and NESHAPS regulations, as well as bio-aerosol sampling methods;

* reliable automobile to be able to travel extensively throughout Arizona and work weekends when necessary;

* able to collect, record, assimilate and analyze data;

* proficient with Microsoft Office;

* possess a good understanding of the scientific method;

* reliable self-motivated individual, with the ability to prioritize and complete objectives in a timely manner;

* able to document IH protocols for sampling, complete training, calibrate equipment, and organize/retain records;

* currently hold designations in the following:
o AHERA building inspector
o AHERA management planner or supervisor
o CMI, CMRS or CMC, and
o CLRA
