We are currently looking for a NURSING SAFE PATIENT HANDLING COORDINATOR. Coordinator provides leadership and shares responsibility for the development, implementation, coordination, maintenance and evaluation of a safe patient handling (SPH) program. The coordinator provides support for the 'culture of safety' throughout the organization, and acts as a clinical liaison.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Coordinate with facility leaders to implement and maintain safe patient handling program

- Evaluate the facility's safe patient handling program on a regular basis

- Develop, mentor, coordinate, expand and maintain unit-based peer leaders (SPH coaches)

- Collaborate with facility leaders to develop a comprehensive educational and competency effort

- Coordinate facility equipment evaluation and selection process for current and future needs

- Oversee all aspects of logistics in the supply and maintenance of inventory, par levels and accountabilities in the safe patient handling program

- Collaborate and participate with facility multidisciplinary SPH team

- Develop and share expertise of SPH in all clinical areas

- Develop and share expertise in the bariatric patient needs

- Promote use of safe patient handling tools, practices, equipment and devices

- Coordinate and participate in facility needs assessments

- Facilitate and provide training sessions

- Ensure the collection, tracking and measurement of program elements and metrics

Skills / Requirements

Applicants should possess the following qualifications:

* Must possess a strong knowledge and background in clinical healthcare as normally demonstrated through three to five years of clinical healthcare experience.

* Must possess a knowledge of healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field.

* Must have the ability to effective communicate with all levels of the organization, as well as present findings and recommendations as needed.

* Must be able to work a variety of scheduled hours including all shifts and occasionally weekends.

* Must be able to adjust quickly to the demands and needs of the program.

* Must be able to work independently and demonstrate initiative.

* Must possess strong problem analysis, organizational and project management skills to effectively implement and manage a facility safe patient handling program.
